HP Tuners offers upgrade services for supported 2015+ FCA vehicles equipped with factory PCMs that require preparation before they can be accessed using VCM Suite.

Depending on your needs, you may upgrade your existing PCM or purchase a brand-new PCM that has already been upgraded and prepared for use with HP Tuners software.

Once serviced, supported PCMs can be used for diagnostics, data logging, and supported calibration changes through the OBD-II port when paired with a compatible interface and required accessories

This service applies to most 2015+ Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, and RAM vehicles.

Exclusions: (not eligible for this upgrade service)

• 2023–2024 RAM 1500 – 5.7L eTorque
• 2022–2024 Jeep Wrangler – 3.6L (See Dodge GPEC5 PCM Service)
• 2021–2024 Jeep Gladiator – 3.6L (See Dodge GPEC5 PCM Service)
• 2022–2023 RAM Rampage – 2.0L (See Dodge GPEC4 PCM Service)
• 2023–2024 Dodge Hornet – 2.0L (See Dodge GPEC4 PCM Service)
• 2018–2021 Jeep Wrangler – 2.0L (See Dodge GPEC4 PCM Service)

Vehicle Compatibility should always be confirmed prior to purchase.

After upgrading or installing an upgraded PCM, the following are required:

• Compatible HP Tuners interface
  • All MPVI generations are supported
• HP Tuners Dodge 2018+ Smart Access Cable (required for 2018+ vehicles)
• Latest version of VCM Suite
• Universal Credits to license the PCM

Universal Credits are not included and must be purchased separately.

• The upgrade service requires shipment of your original or spare PCM (send-in option).
• PCMs with broken locking tabs or damaged connectors will not be accepted.
• This is an upgrade service only; no calibration changes are performed.
• Always confirm PCM type and vehicle compatibility before purchase.

Upgrade your original or spare PCM by sending it to HP Tuners for processing.

• This is a one-time, send-in upgrade service.
• PCM must be removed from the vehicle and shipped to HP Tuners.
• Once upgraded, the PCM is returned ready for licensing and use.
• Typical service time: up to 7 business days (excluding shipping).
• VIN accuracy is critical. Always double-check your VIN at checkout to avoid delays.

Purchase a brand-new PCM that has already been upgraded for use with HP Tuners.

• Ideal for minimizing vehicle downtime.
• No send-in required.
• PCM is programmed to the VIN provided at checkout.
• Stock calibration file must be supplied.
• Processing time is up to 7 business days once the stock file is received.

After upgrading or installing an upgraded PCM, the following are required:

• Compatible HP Tuners interface—All MPVI generations are supported
• HP Tuners 2018+ Dodge Smart Access Cable (required for 2018+ vehicles)
• Latest version of VCM Suite (BETA)
• Universal Credits to license the PCM (check Vehicle Compatibility to confirm how many credits you need for your model)

Universal Credits are not included and must be purchased separately.

• Please note this service is required to tune your 2015+ Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep/RAM (all FCA models, except the 2015+ Dodge Viper and 2014 to 2019 Jeep/Dodge/Ram vehicles with the EDC17C79 PCM).
• In addition to this service, all 2018+ models require an HP Tuners Dodge 2018+ Smart Access Cable.  We recommend you purchase this cable in a separate order to avoid delays.
• Please ensure you are sending in ONLY a PCM. No brackets, rubber isolators, or other pieces should be included. These components may not be returned with your upgraded PCM.
• PCMs with broken “LOCKING” tabs or connectors WILL NOT be accepted for upgrades. No exceptions.
• This is a one-time upgrade that will not affect other operations of the PCM. The factory tools will still work for service.
• While there is no hardware change, the back cover of the PCM does need to be removed.
• EDC17C79 PCMs installed in 2014 to 2019 Jeep/Dodge/Ram vehicles do not need to be upgraded. The EDC17C79 PCM will update upon the first read of the ECM which will allow read/write abilities.
• As of 12/21/2015, ALL non-original 2015+ Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep/RAM PCMs that are sent in for upgrade must have a stock read performed before it is shipped to us. This read must be uploaded before adding the Upgrade service to the cart.
• Gen 3 EcoDiesel PCMs cannot be read prior to upgrade. Any spare or non-original PCMs will need to be programmed to the vehicle before or after the upgrade by HP Tuners—this is the responsibility of the customer.
• If you are sending us a spare PCM, please make sure to send a read from the stock PCM. The stock read must be done as a GPEC2A, 2015+ Dodge or a GPEC2, 2015+ Dodge (depending on which PCM the vehicle is equipped with. Please see the Dodge PCM Identification Thread if you are unsure which PCM you have). If you do not have access to perform the read, please download the latest update from your customer page and try again.
• Once ordered, you can send either an original PCM or a spare. The spare has to be a compatible PCM.

• These ECM/PCM/TCM services are completed at the owner’s risk. HP Tuners will not be responsible for the vehicle, its powertrain, or electronics, nor how the control module is used, calibrated, and its functionality.
• Due to the factory location of the controller in the vehicle, all ECM/PCM/TCMs will exhibit signs of weathering and wear, which is completely normal.
• When utilizing this service there is a possibility that the vehicle will need to be sent to the dealers to be re synced. Purchaser accepts all liability for this activity.
